The Snowshoe rabbit is the primary food for the Canada Lynx. When there are plenty Snowshoe rabbits the Canada Lynx eats mostly the rabbit and very little of it’s other sources of food such as mice, squirrels, and grouse. As the number of predators increase the prey population decreases which in turn causes the predator population to decline. Eventually the prey population is recovered and the cycle is started over again.
