Human Influence
- Humans have a huge impact on the Taiga Forest. Heavy hunting of the American Black Bear or Moose can cause problems such as disrupt the food web in the Forest. The cutting down of coniferous trees done by humans in the Taiga Biome can also prevent these animals from finding their food which leaves them at a risk for survival.
- The Balsam Fir trees are very common and are used to make logs for cabins, pulpwood, and even Christmas trees for the holidays. However, if these trees are cut down in too large of numbers it will ruin the balance that is needed for all living things to thrive in the forest.
- Clear cutting increases the risk for erosion and floods in the Taiga Forest.
- Acid Rain is another human influence that we put on the Taiga Biome. Factories near by can release smoke with chemicals in them that are mixed in with the clouds and produce acid raid. Acid Rain harms and weakens the trees. As the trees become weakened, it is easier for insects and diseases to attack the tree, ultimately killing it.
