In the Taiga Biome there are a vast number of species present in the ecosystem. Starting at the bottom of our food web are the some of the producers in this ecosystem which consist of the Black Spruce, Balsam Fir, Alder Green, and Paper Birch plants. These producers are then eaten by the Primary Consumers. In our food web the Black Spruce is eaten by the Red Squirrel. The Balsam Fir is eaten by the Yellow-bellied sapsucker and the Balsam Fir, Alder Green, and Paper Birch are all eaten by the Moose. These primary consumers are now eaten by the Secondary Consumers. The Red Squirrel and the Moose are eaten by the Bobcat and the Yellow-bellied sapsucker is eaten by the Red Fox. The Secondary Consumers are now eaten by the Tertiary Consumers. The Bobcat and Red Fox are eaten by the Black Bear. The energy flows through the food web and only 10% of energy is passed up each level when it is not consumed and the other 90% is lost as heat.
